The incident happened around 4:30 am on Saturday, August 10.

“We received an alert that the haul rope for Sea to Sky Gondola had fallen and the lift was inoperable,” the gondola staff posted on social media.

No guests or staff members were on the gondola and no injuries were sustained in the incident. The gondola is currently closed and the company will provide updates as they become available.

Sounds like vandalism to me…Why would it be fine fully loaded, and come down when empty…I’m surprised ” securitty ” didn’t notice anything…there must have been some alarms going off somewhere……..????

Any wear and tear fail could happen at any time loaded or not if the proper maintenance was not performed or missed. Hopefully this is not the case.

Absolutely horrible that someone could vandalize something that brought jobs and tourism (which brings money to our small town) to our little place for what??? Senseless …now all those people have no job to go to…Gee thanks ******!

My goodness! How people immediately look to the worst and assume or suggest what had to happen. Where has patience gone? Can not the real answer be waited upon? For the naysayers who respond “it must have been (insert negative scenario here),” it could also have been unexpected mechanical/equipment failure, or lightning striking a key piece of the infrastructure. Let’s wait for the company’s eventual explanation.
