Service for New Immigrants

Capilano University and North Shore Multicultural Society have partnered to bring Settlement Services to Squamish with funding from the Government of BC.

The Squamish Immigrant Settlement Service (SqISS)  supports newcomer immigrants and refugees with the process of settling into their new community. Punjabi and English speaking Settlement Workers provide in-depth information about and referral to health care, housing, childcare subsidy, legal and other Canadian systems.

They also assist newcomers to link to English language classes, employment services and community services. SqISS also offers information sessions on settlement related topics. Services are confidential, professional and friendly.

Services are available in English, Punjabi , Farsi, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Filipino.

SqISS  is currently located in the Hotspot Community Resource Centre. Punjabi and English speaking Settlement Workers are available by appointment. 

Appointments can be made by Phone , email or  by dropping in to the Hotspot which is open 10am -6pm  Monday to Saturday.
