The District of Squamish has hired Christie Smith as the new communications manager, it was annouced in a press release on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Christie held the position of Senior Communications Manager with TELUS Corporation in Vancouver, where she was responsible for writing speaking notes for the president and chief executive officer.

She has also served as a communications manager with RBC Royal Bank, where she was the regional media spokesperson and played a key role during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

She is recognized for developing enduring relationships with media and key stakeholders and implementing creative initiatives that enhance engagement and build corporate brands, Squamish CAO Kevin Ramsay said.

Christie has a BA with a major in communications and almost 20 years in the industry.  She lives in Vancouver, BC, but looks forward to becoming familiar with the local real estate market in hopes of relocating in the near future.
