Squamish RCMP is reporting two incidents where homes were broken into for theft. On Thursday, April 12, the police received a report of a break in to a home in the 2200 block of Read Cres.
Entry was gained via an unlocked window and stolen were an XBox 360 Elite, a Toshiba laptop, an iPod charger and some cigarettes, the total value of which was estimated at approx. $1100.00.
On Saturday, April 14th, police also received a report of a break and enter to an unoccupied residence in the 2500 block of Jura Cres.
Entry was gained by a rear window being pried. Extensive damage was caused to the home, holes were punched in walls, glass fixtures and mirrors broken, garbage left strewn about and paint sprayed throughout.
The home had been unoccupied for a number of months so no approximate time of occurrence was possible.
On Friday, April 13th, Squamish RCMP checked a group of suspicious males at Victoria and Loggers Lane.
A 32-year-old Squamish resident, well known to police, was arrested for possession of a stolen computer laptop and a quantity of Methamphetamine and Ecstasy. Also seized were a can of bear spray, a knife and a club, and charges related to weapons possession may also be laid.
On April 11th, police also received a report of damage to a fence at a BC Hydro Substation in the 59000 block of Squamish Valley Rd.
The suspect had cut the fence to gain access to the compound and targeted a secured storage container, unsuccessfully, as nothing was stolen. The incident occurred sometime during the week prior.
On April 11th, police received a report of a theft from a vehicle overnight in the 40000 block of Willow Crescent. Someone had smashed the driver’s side window and stolen a tool kit worth approx. $300.00.
A similar incident, police reported a theft from a vehicle, which was parked on the road outside a residence in the 41000 block of Government Rd. A door was pried open and three iPods, numerous CD’s and some clothing were stolen. Approx. $1300.00 in items was stolen .
