Weapons Seized After Shots Fired in Britannia Beach

Squamish RCMP responded to a report of multiple gunshots this past Saturday, June 9, at approx. 9:45 p.m., in the woods behind Britannia Beach.

At the scene, police located a number of individuals camping in the area, one of who was in possession of a number of firearms, legally owned by him.

The male, a 25-year-old West Vancouver resident, admitted to shooting his rifles in the area.

Police seized two semi-automatic high-powered rifles and a shotgun, along with a prohibited ammunition magazine for the rifles.

Charges are being pursued in relation to the possession of this prohibited device. The investigation is ongoing.

On Sunday, June 10, RCMP responded to an alarm at the Canadian Tire Garden Center in the 1800 block of Mamquam Rd.

A police service dog attended to the scene . Video of the area is being examined and the investigation is ongoing in relation to items stolen and potential suspects.

Police are also reporting an assault with a weapon on Saturday, June 2,  at 5:30 p.m. It was a fight between two males involving a bat and chain in the parking lot of the Shoppers Drug Mart in the 1300 block of Pemberton Ave.

Police dealt with two males, aged 39 and 32, who were know to the police. The males were known to each other and had a history of conflict which resulted in the confrontation.

This incident involved one male driving a vehicle and two other individuals on bicycles.

The driver allegedly tried to use a vehicle to cause physical harm to the other, who in turn produced a bat which was used to damage the vehicle. In the ensuing confrontation a chain was also produced and used in a threatening manner.

 The investigation is ongoing. 

 Police are asking any witnesses to contact the Squamish RCMP at Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100.
