Parents can soon expect to use an online tool being created by BC Ministry of Education that will provide information about various schools and education opportunities in the province.
The Vancouver Sun reported on Aug. 15th that the ministry is working with parents to develop a user-friendly online tool.
“There is an enormous amount of data available about students and schools in B.C.,” the ministry told the Sun’s Janet Steffenhagen in a statement.
The plan is to arrange that publicly-available data in an easy-to-use format.
The ministry told the Sun that the school finder web tool will provide “a broader profile of each school and the education system as a whole, so parents can better understand the strengths of each school and which school is the best fit for their child.
“The tool will also help parents get more involved in their child’s learning and to be an informed partner in improving the school system as a whole.”
The Ministry has conducted interviews with parents from around the province to find out what information they need to make the best education choices.
Parents can expect the tool to be available during the coming school year.
