Squamish Academy of Music Presents Jungle Book at Eagle Eye Theatre

The second installment of Squamish Academy of Music’s three-week summer intensive camp, Broadway or Bust promises to bring to life Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS on August 31 at 7pm at the Eagle Eye Theatre.

In this beloved Disney classic, familiar friends such as the big bear Baloo and the panther Bagheera take us through the pages of the Jungle Book with jazzy musical numbers and adventures.

Toe-tapping favourites “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wan’na Be Like You” are among the jungle tunes you may recognize.

Since 2005, Broadway or Bust has inspired so many young Squamish performers that the musical theatre camp ran in both summer months this year.

The course in August, offered to students aged six to twelve, follows the successful performance of the highly attended Fame! JR in July.

With the smaller number of students enrolled in the August session, each individual has the opportunity to have a stand out role in The Jungle Book.

“It’s more fun with less kids because you learn the dances and songs faster,” says student Larissa McKinney, who appeared as a dancer in the chorus of Fame! JR.

Nora Linhart returns as Director, Amanda Morris as Choreographer, and Squamish music student Emma Wong as Assistant.

Ticket prices are $7 for children/students and $15 for adults.  They can be purchased at Squamish Academy of Music and the Adventure Centre.
