Squamish RCMP arrested two men in connection with mountain bike thefts that were posted on social media sites after being recorded by surveillance video.

The bikes stolen have yet to be recovered, but the police said the ongoing investigation remains a priority.

On Dec 29, three men  broke into a Village Green Way home and stole three high-end mountain bikes along with some other items. The owners were at home at the time of the theft.

A men’s green 20 speed Norco Range, a men’s black 11 speed Norco Range, and a blue men’s 27 speed Giant Rainier were stolen, along with a white Apple TV Box, a 32 ” Samsung TV, a garage door opener and a pair of black Ryder sunglasses.

On Jan 8, Squamish RCMP arrested a 17-year-old man who is well-known to the police and seized items connected with the break and enter. On friday, Jan 30, Squamish RCMP in cooperation with the Vancouver City Police, arrested another 19-year-old Vancouver man.

In another incident that took place on Feb 1, police responded to a report of a man stealing items from a BC Hydro work truck, which had been parked on Fifth Ave and Winnipeg Ave. At scene it was established that a reel of copper wire had been taken from the truck. Based on descriptions police located and arrested the suspect a short distance from the scene.

A 28-year-old Squamish male, of no fixed address, was arrested. Local police know him well as he is a prolific offender who frequents police cells in regard to property crimes in the area. A 37-year-old female acquaintance, who was also very well-known to police for similar activities was found in his company, however there was insufficient evidence to arrest her as well.

On Tues, Jan 27, police received a report of a purse having been stolen from the public library between 2 and 3 pm. The victim later found the purse, but the money had been taken.

Police received a report of a stereo being stolen from a 2000 Ford F350  while parked in a commercial building parking lot on Discovery Way. The vehicle may have been left insecure.  Police are awaiting additional details regarding the $300 stereo and any other items taken.
