That Simple Kind Gesture

Nancy Warwick with her daughter Jacklin.

I’ve found a ton of inspiration and happiness navigating my way through motherhood.  Every mother wants the best for their child but you also want your child to do their best for society and community.

My heart-melting moment of motherhood came when my daughter was about 10 years old and was playing soccer.  She had a very elderly volunteer coach who was struggling to haul a giant bag of balls across the field.  Without being asked my daughter quietly sidled up to the elderly coach and took the bag of balls from him.  That simple kind gesture brought tears to my eyes.

I was so proud!  Over the years I’ve continued to witness simple acts of kindness from her towards others and really that’s all a mother can ask for.  Be kind to others and help out when you can.

My girl is heading to university in the fall and with mixed emotions and a very proud heart, I’m ready to let her go and experience the rest of the big world and hope that her kind heart will remain intact.  As for me, I shall reflect on one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs in the universe – Motherhood.
