Specialty Trail and Running Store Opening in Squamish

July 25, 2016 11:22am

A new specialty trail and running store will soon open in Squamish. Capra will be bringing some of the most technical trail and mountain running gear to the community of Squamish, said Solana Klassen, who co-owns the store with Mike Murphy and Tyler McGowan. The store will be located in the Spectacle Building, next to the Rogers store.

“Our products and our philosophy are meant to be a perfect match for the active lifestyle and world class terrain that Squamish has to offer. We are excited to be offering more than just a retail experience—we want to create a running hub for the Sea to Sky corridor,” said Klassen.

A lot of our energy will be focused on solidifying the trail community by offering running clinics, group runs, women’s only runs, as well as holding regular special events. These will include technical talks and presentations, product testing/sampling events, and a variety of other social events, she added. Capra Running is made up of three partners—runners with a passion for the sport and a desire to build the community in Squamish. They are Mike Murphy, Tyler McGowan and Solana Klassen.

One of Capra’s founding values is to connect the active community of Squamish and we are very excited to welcome everyone to the store in August, said Klassen. Solana started the Ladies of the Trails in 2013 as a way of sharing her passion for trail running with women who wanted to try it but didn’t know how or where to start. She strives to encourage as many ladies to get outside in nature as she can, and there are now close to 1500 female members in Vancouver/Squamish! Solana is also the Race Director for the 5 Peaks Trail Running Vancouver series.
