One of B.C.’s largest holiday craft markets is back.
Refresh Market returns to the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish for its largest market of the year with 100 local artists, makers, and shops on Friday, November 16 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The First Dibs market preview will also take place on Friday, November 16 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
“Refresh offers a place to shop and scout new local talent from across the province,” says Refresh Market co-founder Shannon Lorenz.
“Supporting local artists, makers, and small business continues to be the focus of all Refresh events, and it’s especially important as we head into the holiday season.”
The market lineup features a meticulously curated selection of handmade and locally designed clothing, jewelry, ceramics, art, vintage, artisan foods and more from neighbourhood favourites as well as up-and-coming artists and brands.
Vendors can take first pick of the items for sale at the First Dibs market preview, a ticketed event that includes a complimentary cocktail, a gift from Squamish apothecary Nootka and Sea, and coffee roaster Counterpart Coffee, and an hour of dedicated shopping time before the doors open to the public.
In addition to the shopping, market highlights include Tin Type Trike tintype portraits, crystal and tarot readings, coffee and ice cream bar, and a market roster that includes 30 per cent new vendors.
“Refresh is about making conscious decisions about how you shop and who you support,” says Refresh Market co-founder Rachel Boguski.
“Squamish is a creative, entrepreneurial community, and we’ve been fortunate to help fuel that spirit by offering a platform that connects local makers with buyers.”
The market receives more than 900 vendor applications annually. Artwork for this year’s event poster was designed by Vancouver artist Annie Axtell, and limited-edition prints of the piece will be available for sale at the market.
Refresh Market will take place on Friday, November 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door, $3 online and free for kids under 12. The first to arrive on both Friday and Saturday will receive one of 50 market swag bags.
