January 11, 2019 7:44am

The District of Squamish is closing all charitable clothing bins until further notice.

The district decision comes weeks after a tragic incident in West Vancouver where a man who was found dead after being stuck in clothing bin.

Donation bins located on District property were removed on Friday, January 11.

District is encouraging charities with donation bins located on private property to remove them immediately.

There are several options to support local charities through the donation of clothing and household items, said communications manager Christina Moore.

“Donations may be dropped off at your nearest local thrift store or charity organization,” she said.

Squamish residents may also call Developmental Disabilities Association to schedule a donation pickup by calling 604.273.9778 or completing an online pickup form at https://www.develop.bc.ca/find-a-clothing-bin/#shedule-pickup-form
