Sea to Sky Highway lanes will remain closed for several more days

June 25, 2019 11:30am

Lanes on the Sea to Sky highway north of Horseshoe Bay will remain closed for several more days due to the wildfire in the area.

There are a number of hazardous trees adjacent to the highway that need to be removed before the northbound highway lanes can be safely reopened to traffic, according to .

In the meantime, all northbound lanes between Ansell Place and Ocean Point Road are closed, with northbound traffic diverted into one of the southbound lanes.

Travellers should expect congestion in the area and are asked to slow down, use extra caution and allow for additional time. For the most up-to-date highway travel information, check @DriveBC on Twitter or visit: DriveBC.ca

Meanwhile, the BC Wildfire Service told Global BC the wildfire burning near Horseshoe Bay is now contained and is classified as ‘being held’.

Crews responded to the fire around 3 am on Sunday and it was measured at about three hectares in size.
