RMOW is expanding the cardio room and creating a new dedicated stretching room at Meadow Park Sports Centre.
The rooftop patio area beside the existing cardio room will be enclosed to add space for an expanded fitness centre cardio room space, increased equipment, and a new dedicated stretching room for the public.
The expansion is anticipated to be completed in April 2020, but all services will remain open, including the cardio room and surrounding areas, RMOW said in a release.
“Meadow Park Sports Centre is a busy fitness centre. It is an important community asset because it helps people stay active year round,” said Mayor Jack Crompton. “Thank you to the Community Foundation of Whistler for their donation that made this expansion possible.”
Some of the major work will take place during the centre’s annual maintenance in August and September to minimize inconvenience to the public.
A donation of $400,000 from the Community Foundation of Whistler’s (CFOW) Emerald Foundation supported the cardio room expansion and stretching room addition.
This contribution makes it possible to realize the long-held plans to expand indoor fitness space onto the second floor west facing outer deck.
