‘Suck it Cancer’ beer honours memory of artist Chili Thom

September 20, 2019 11:56am

A local brewery has created a new beer to honour the memory of late Sea to Sky artist Chili Thom.

Backcountry Brewing has named the beer “Suck It Cancer” and collaborated on the can design with the estate of local Squamish artist Chili Thom.

The beer will be available at liquor stores and select draught locations across the province. Suck It Cancer is a Double Dry Hopped Pale Ale 5.5% ABV | 28 IBU

Thom succumbed to cancer in 2016. Ben Reeder, the co-founder of Backcountry Brewing, said they hope to raise $5,000 with the beer for BC Cancer Foundation.

A launch party for the can release has been planned at the brewery for Thursday Sept 26th 7pm-11pm.

Backcountry Brewing will be donating: $1 per 4-pack, $50 per keg, and $0.50 per sleeve sold in tasting room as well as $1 per 1L growler sold $2 per 2L growler sold.

Summit Printing donated the beer labels.
