Garibaldi Lake is closed to public

October 24, 2019 11:39am

BC Parks has closed down Garibaldi Lake area because of an increase in bear activity.

In order to preserve public safety, BC Parks, on the recommendation of the Conservation Officer Service, is closing Garibaldi Lake area of Garibaldi Park.

A few weeks ago, BC Parks had shut down campground and trails in Garibaldi Park after an aggressive bear charged at a group of 20 people.

The trail and campgrounds from Rubble Creek Parking lot to Taylor Meadows and Garibaldi Lake are closed due to aggressive bear activity on the trail and at Taylor Meadows campground.

They remain closed until further notice.
