11 reports of theft from vehicles; police urge caution

November 15, 2019 1:57pm

Squamish RCMP is reminding the public to remove valuables from their vehicles and to lock them after a string of thefts from vehicles this week.

Police received a total of 11 reports of thefts from motor vehicles this week and in all cases the vehicles were left unlocked.

“Police want to remind residents to secure their vehicles as best they can by locking doors, utilizing security devices if available, and stow valuables in alternate locations or out of plain view,” said Cpl. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.

Meanwhile, Squamish RCMP has arrested a man who was caught on video rummaging through an unlocked vehicle in the 1100 block of Edgewater Drive.

The complainant had video surveillance of the incident. Police identified the man and he is now facing criminal charges.
