UPDATE: Blizzard warning ends for Howe Sound

January 16, 2020 7:29am

Published: January 16, 2020

A blizzard warning issued by Environment Canada has ended for Howe Sound.

A winter storm alert, however, is in effect for the Sea to Sky region. A departing winter storm will continue to give snow and blowing snow to the Sea to Sky and Whistler area.

Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 10 cm can be expected before the snow tapers off to a few flurries.

Strong outflow winds combining with cold temperatures will continue to give wind chill values near minus 25 this morning. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

https://shiftintowinter.ca/ reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.
