Pemberton’s new Raven fest shines light on backcountry

Pemberton’s new Raven Backcountry Festival is set to shine a light on the terrain and the people that help make backcountry skiing, split boarding and snowmobiling in Pemberton world class.

The inaugural weekend will include social events on Friday and Saturday nights as well as a day full of clinics that will put participants into the heart of Pemberton’s big mountain terrain.

Throughout the weekend the Raven Fest will also be raising also funds for the Lisa Korthals Memorial bursary which helps educate aspiring female backcountry guides.

The Lisa Korthals Memorial Bursary is designed to create a living legacy to the memory of Lisa Korthals, who dies in an avalanche in 2018. The annual bursary is intended for women to help them get a start in their Mechanized Ski Guiding career.

Friday, February 7

Welcome Social & Guest Presenters
Big Sky Golf
6 to 9 pm
$20.00

Be entertained with stories and imagery from local legends at the opening night. Presenters include Kye Petersen, Tatum Monod, Wayne Flann, Eric Pehota, Blake Jorgenson and Darryl Treadway. All tickets include a drink ticket and a donation to the Lisa Korthals Memorial Fund.

Saturday, February 8

Backcountry Clinics

The clinics are hosted by Coast Mountain Guides, Extremely Canadian, Broken Boundary Adventures and supported by Blackcomb Helicopters. All clinic participants will meet-up with the guides at Big Sky Golf at 8:15 am to check in, grab a hot coffee and discuss the day.

Live music from Big Mountain Rhythm, tasty beverages, a exhibition by Pemberton Arts Council and a silent auction. Every ticket purchase includes a drink ticket and a donation to the foundation.
