A long-cherished dream is finally becoming a reality for Heidi Nielsen.

The local aromatherapist is going to Nepal and India, places that have fascinated her for decades, and she is holding a fundraiser to help her with the expenses.

“The clothes, the spices, the scents and the aromas, the many attars and perfumes and the many essential oils that are distilled in India. It is a place that has called me for so many years,” she said.

Nielsen is his hosting a Letting Go fundraiser, where some of her prized possessions will be on sale this Sunday, February 9, from 2 pm to 8 pm at the Brackendale Art Gallery.

“I am swimming in abundance of jewellery and clothes and unique things that I have gathered in the last 30 years, and a part of my intention is to let go of these things,” she said.

The collection includes really funky clothing, scarves, dresses, sweaters, skirts, purses and a lot of crystals. Jewellery with semi-precious stones, some spiritual tools such as wisdom cards, angel cards and rattles will also be included.

Also available will be unique trinkets, buddhas, singing bowls, sound healing pieces, essential oils and a lot of other interesting things.

Part of her intention, she says, is to let go of material things in a spirit of renunciation, but the money will also help pay some bills while she is away and cover some extra costs for the trip.

“I have tried to price things in a way that they are really undervalued, and yet if someone really want something and needs $5 off, it won’t be an issue,” she says.

“Part of the plan is to radically release my material possessions, to let go.”
