BC police watchdog has been called after an incident involving the death of a woman in Lillooet area.

The Independent Investigations Office of BC has been notified of the death of a woman that occurred in the presence of police in the Lillooet area.

The IIO has now started an investigation to determine what role, if any, the actions of the police officers may have played in the woman’s death.

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia.

It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
