North Vancouver care centre resident has died from coronavirus

staff report
March 9, 2020 11:52am

A resident of the Lynn Valley care center in North Vancouver has died of coronavirus, according to the latest update by the BC Government.

The male resident is the first person to die in Canada because of the coronavirus.

Two more residents in the care home have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. One of them is a health worker at the facility.

The government announced five new cases of the coronavirus in the province, taking the total to 32.

The two cases reported on Saturday were residents of a long-term care facility in Lynn Valley.

These cases were identified as part of an outbreak assessment at the facility in response to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19, BC government said.
