District of Squamish has announced that the Guns & Hoses hockey game that was scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at Brennan Park has been postponed amid COVID-19 concerns.
Christina Moore, the district communications manager, said the provincial health authorities are recommending that events with more than 250 attendees be cancelled due to the inability to maintain social distancing in a large crowd.
“The added consideration that the event involves a large number of Squamish’s emergency personnel also makes this the right decision for our community,” Moore said.
Organizers will aim to reschedule this popular local event later this year.
Organizers of the game are thanking everyone for their understanding, and for those who donated to the cause.
The District of Squamish will keep residents apprised of any changes to programming at district facilities that may occur in this evolving COVID-19 situation.
