Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) said it would enhance cleaning and disinfection procedures for all RMOW facilities amidst concerns about COVID-19.

“The RMOW has implemented several measures in consultation with VCH,” says an update from the municipality.

“We have aligned the cleaning and disinfection procedures for all of our facilities with direction from the BC Centre for Disease Control to ensure we are using the right products and targeting the right surfaces,” it says.

RMOW has also circulated a guidance document about sanitization and cleaning for municipal facilities to staff at all facilities.

Directions have also been provided to all municipal facilities to increase protocols for sanitizing high touch surfaces.

RMOW says Vancouver Coastal Health has informed the municipality that the risk of coronavirus in Whistler is low.

“We are working closely with VCH and following their recommendations when it comes to classes, programs and events. We are following the province’s recommendation to cancel events with more than 250 attendees,” RMOW says.

VCH recommends washing hands often and staying at home, even with mild symptoms. VCH also recommends limiting contact with people who appear to be ill.
