A North Vancouver municipality is hiring seasonal park rangers to enforce social distancing in parks.
The park rangers will begin working over the coming weeks in the District of North Vancouver.
On March 23, District of North Vancouver closed Mount Fromme and Lynn Canyon Park parking lots due to people not heeding the social-distancing guidelines.
It also closed the popular Quarry Rock and Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge because of people not heeding advice on social distancing.
Today, the provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry also said that while 50 is the maximum number of people that are allowed to gather, it is better to postpone ceremonies that bring people together.
“With enhanced cleaning and physical distancing precautions in place, we can keep everyone safe and keep many businesses, including all the essential services we need, going.”
Squamish Mayor Karen Elliott has also urged locals to take social distancing seriously.
