Squamish girl’s quick action helps save two people from drug overdose

staff report
April 14, 2020 5:39pm

A quick action by a young girl in Squamish has helped save the lives of two people who had overdosed on drugs.

The girl immediately called 911 when she realised two people had overdosed on drugs.

In the meantime, a neighbour came to help and gave both people CPR while waiting for the police and paramedics.

RCMP officers administered Narcan and took care of the two individuals until the ambulance came and transported them to hospital.

They have now been released from the hospital.

Police didn’t say how old the girl was, and only identified her as a young girl.

Last month, Squamish RCMP responded to a drug overdose at a local hotel, where they found a guest in medical distress.

Police administered Narcan and the guest regained consciousness. Police remained with the hotel guest until paramedics arrived.
