Oceanfront Park will remain closed to vehicles on weekends

The gates will be closed from Friday evenings to Monday mornings.

The Oceanfront Park gate will be closed to vehicles on the weekends for the foreseeable future.

The gate closures were earlier implemented only for the long weekend, but now the closures will continue on weekends.

The gate will be closed from Friday evenings to Monday mornings.

“We are anticipating an influx of visitors the next number of weekends, and while our community is generally quite welcoming, we must request visitors to Squamish and the Oceanfront visit at a later date,” said Kristen Gauley of Matthews West.

Any vehicles parking outside of the gate and along the access road will be towed. The company will continue to monitor the use of the Oceanfront Park.

“In order to keep this amenity open and accessible to locals and visitors alike, we must act appropriately and within the guidance set out by the province of British Columbia,” Gauley added.
