The BC SPCA is offering pet food and supplies and emergency pet boarding for residents impacted by the Squamish Valley fire.
Lorie Chortyk, general manager of communications for the BC SPCA, said accommodation for cats and small animals can be provided at the Squamish facility.
For dogs, accommodation is available at the West Vancouver shelter.
“Anyone needing assistance is asked to please contact our Call Centre at 1-855-622-7722 to make boarding arrangements,” she said.
Chortyk said the BC SPCA is also calling for public donations of unopened dry and canned pet food and cat litter.
The donations can be dropped off at the BC SPCA Sea to Sky Branch at 1005-B Industrial Way in Sqamish, the BC SPCA West Vancouver Branch, at 1020 Marine Drive in West Vancouver or the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch at 1205 East 7th Avenue in Vancouver.
“We are so grateful for these donations and we will ensure that they get distributed to pet guardians in need in Squamish.”
Those who need assistance with pet food can call the Sea to Sky SPCA at 604-898-9890 for details.
Residents of the Squamish and Paradise Valleys who need to evacuate livestock can also contact District of Squamish at 604-815-4995 for more information.
Meanwhile, a local business, Canine Valley, has also opened its doors to livestock evacuees. The centre recently received its first evacuees, chickens, and is also making its dog centre available to people.
The Squamish Valley Equestrian Association is also helping people with animals that need evacuation and accommodation.
