The status of the Squamish Valley fire has not changed and it remains classified as ‘Out of Control’.
The term describes a wildfire that isn’t responding, or responding on a limited basis, to suppression in a way that the perimeter spread is not being contained.
However, there has been no growth on the fire as the weather continues to be cool, with only light wind, according to the latest update by BC Wildfire Service posted at 9:24 am.
As many as 38 firefighters, two helicopters, and three heavy equipment units are fighting the 203 hectare fire.
Meanwhile, tree fallers are removing dangerous trees and 40 people have been brought by BC Hydro to restore power to the area.
Hydro lines are being worked on and some may be down while the work is being conducted.
Fire crew today will extinguish hot spots identified on valley bottom, complete helipads on north hillside, and establish hoselay to direct attack where possible.
The teams will also establish access and water delivery system on south flank slope.
