Squamish RCMP are asking the community to be vigilant after two cases of banking fraud in town.
Fraudsters were able to access personal banking information and then intercepted e-transfers of account holders.
Squamish RCMP are reminding people to report such scams to police and their respective banks.
Squamish RCMP say they also recommend contacting Equifax or Trans Union, and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency to prevent future frauds.
Police also issued warning about banking fraud on April 19, after a local resident received a spoof text from what appeared to be her phone company. The text had a link that asked her to update her Social Insurance Number and provide personal banking information.
The resident gave that information and was notified by her bank of a pending e-transfer of a large sum of money. The resident contacted the bank to stop the transfer and then reported the scam to police.
Theft of tires
Thieves stole two tires from a car that was parked in the 39000 block of Discovery Way. The theft took place between April 21 and 22, between 5 pm and 8 am.
The tires are Michelin Premier All Season and are 205/50R17 in size.
