The Sea to Sky Gondola is inviting the community to its first virtual concert featuring a local band, The Hairfarmers.

The concert takes place today, May 15, from 5 pm to 7 pm, and will be streamed live from the Sea to Sky Gondola summit.

“Hosts Kirby Brown and Andrew Bacon will welcome all of you from the comfort of your own home while you take in the views from the Octagon Deck,” the gondola management said.

The event is a partnership between the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, Whistler Foundation and Whistler Live to raise funds for the Sea to Sky Community Services.

The two-hour concert kicks off at 5 pm on the Whistler Live Facebook page. It can also be accessed at this Facebook event page and at the YouTube channel for Whistler Live.

Not everyone will be watching the show from their home. Four lucky couples who won a bid will get to watch the show live and in person at the top of the gondola.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is supporting the event and is also urging the community to not only match, but exceed, a grant of $27,000 that it is giving to fund community programs in the Sea to Sky region.

Funds will be used towards online support for at-risk youth, crisis counseling for families fleeing violence, child care for essential services workers, virtual check-ins and meals for vulnerable new moms, and respite for parents of adults and children with special needs.
