Squamish RCMP have recovered a stolen boat worth $267,000 and seized cannabis worth $90,000 from Squamish Valley.
Police also seized several recreational vehicles for further investigation into alleged VIN tampering.
One Squamish Valley resident was arrested and later released pending further investigation.
The raid on the property took place on May 7, when Squamish RCMP assisted Airdrie Alberta RCMP to recover a 2016 King Fisher Destination 3025 vessel that was reported stolen from a storage facility in Crossfield, Alberta.
With tips from the public and members of the marine industry including www.stolenboats.ca, Squamish RCMP executed a search warrant on two adjacent properties in the Squamish Valley.
Police recovered a vessel worth $267,000, which has now been returned to the owners.
While executing the search warrant, police observed more criminal evidence and executed another search warrant on the same two properties on May 14.
In this raid, Squamish RCMP seized several recreational vehicles for further investigation of alleged VIN tampering.
A cannabis grow operation was also located on one of the properties which consisted of approximately 1200 more cannabis plants than were authorized to grow.
The excess cannabis plants were seized and they are estimated to be worth $90,000. Police also recovered more stolen property related to the 2016 King Fisher vessel.
“Returning a piece of property, especially of that value, is extremely fulfilling and we’re happy that the vessel is already back with its rightful owners,” says Sgt. Jeff Shore, NCO i/c Sea to Sky General Investigation Section.
Squamish RCMP was assisted by the BC Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS), Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS), Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), ICBC Vehicle Identification Squad, Divisional Cannabis Coordinator, Vancouver Police Department and other local agencies.
