District of Squamish is planning to open the municipal hall to the public on June 1 in a controlled and limited way.
Although most services are being provided online or by phone, in-person access can be essential for some customers who are accessing service by cash or card, district says.
Only two people will be allowed to enter the hall at a time, and one will be allowed to go to the front counter. A greeter at the entrance will assure of this.
The greeter at the entrance will also ask questions about COVID-19 symptoms and travel. District washrooms will be closed, and so could be a few parking spots to allow for social distancing.
Hours of public access to the Municipal Hall will be reduced from 10 am to 4 pm, and seniors’ hours will be 10 am to 11:30 am.
At any given time, there won’t be more than 40 people in the hall, of which two to four people will be customers and the rest will be staff.
Whenever possible, district employees have been asked to continue working from home, and only staff necessary for expanded operations such as front counter services will be authorized to return to work.
District will also limit staff to one employee per office, unless the office is large.
Physical barriers such as Plexiglas will be installed at the front counter workstations and a cleaning protocol for regular sanitization will be established.
District is still encouraging the use of online, courier, drop box and telephone services.
Meanwhile, district says front counter will continue to receive payments over the phone.
