COVID-19: Parking reduced at Alice Lake park

Staff report
July 18, 2020 6:29pm

BC Parks has reduced parking at Alice Lake Provincial Park by 25 % to maintain physical distancing as part of its COVID-19 response.

People going to Alice Lake park are reminded to arrive early or on weekdays to ensure they can secure a parking spot.

Meanwhile, BC Parks has also decided to ban tour buses from the Shannon Falls Provincial Park as part of its ongoing COVID-19 response.

Vehicles parked illegally at Shannon Falls and Murrin Provincial Parks will be towed at the owner’s expense. Visitors also must park in designated parking lots and observe the “no parking” signs.

Vehicles parked illegally in closed day-use areas will be charged a fee to unlock the gate.

Meanwhile, more campsites have been added at the Alice Lake Provincial Park. Mount Seymour, Cultus Lake Park, E.C. Manning and Golden Ears Park are some other provincial parks where extra camping is available.

BC Parks has also launched a new Discover Parks Ambassador Pilot Program , a new partnership between the BC Parks Foundation and BC Parks.

The nine ambassadors are post-secondary students and volunteers from the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Canadian Conservation Corps, who will be out in parks engaging visitors with activities, education, citizen science and more.
