FortisBC to host info session on preferred pipeline route

staff report
August 5, 2020 4:17pm

FortisBC is hosting two virtual information sessions this month as part of its community engagement on the Eagle Mountain-Woodfibre Gas Pipeline project.

FortisBC will provide an update to the community on the project and its preferred pipeline route through the Loggers Lane East neighbourhood in Squamish.

Each information session will include a short presentation about the project followed by a Q & A session.

For those who are unable to attend, the presentation will be made available on FortisBC website as well

The first information session will take place on August 12, from 6 to 7:30 pm.

A live video presentation will be available at this link, and the password for it is Eagle1.

The second session will take place on August 13, from 4 to 5:30 pm, which can also be accessed online here. The password for this session is Eagle2.

The proposed project will expand a portion of FortisBC’s existing natural gas transmission system, which was built in 1990.

The expansion involves adding about 47 kilometres of new 24-inch pipe, beginning north of the Coquitlam watershed and ending at the proposed Woodfibre LNG site.

FortisBC plans to finish the work in time for Woodfibre LNG’s scheduled in-service date.

“We also want to hear and respond to any questions that the community has and consider their feedback. We look forward to hearing from participants during these virtual engagement opportunities,” FortisBC said.
