Library opens access to computers and printers

Staff report
August 9, 2020 9:22am

The Squamish Public Library is now offering limited access to computers and printers.

The library provided this service from Monday to Friday, 1 pm to 4 pm.

There are two computers available. Patrons or guests can use a computer for one 45-minute session every day. Computers are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Here are the guidelines on using the computers:

Patrons can also use computer access time to print documents, which can also be printed from their own device.

Library is accepting online card payments to pay for printing, using a new service called Princh.

The library announced last month it won’t be charging for overdue items and has eliminated all existing late fines.

Patrons won’t be charged when a library item is overdue and they can continue to borrow items up to 21 days after the due date.

For those who have an overdue item for more than 21 days, the account will be temporarily blocked from borrowing and a replacement fee will be added to the account.

However, the fees will be removed once the overdue item is returned and no late fines will be charged.

Meanwhile, the library’s take-out service continues and is a success, says Hilary Bloom, the director of the library.

“We are doing a tremendous job of our take-out service (available 34 hours a week), so we are getting library materials into peoples’ hands,” Bloom says.
