Injured bears being tracked in Valleycliffe and Garibaldi Highlands

Staff report
August 11, 2020 3:07pm

The Conservation Officer Service (COS) are tracking two injured bears in the Garibaldi Highlands and Valleycliffe neighbourhoods.

Both bears are mobile, but their injuries put them at a disadvantage and they may exhibit defensive behavior as a result, district said.

Both appear to have hind-end injuries that are yet to fully be determined

The COS is monitoring the situation and wishes to remind residents to secure all attractants and to please provide these bears with plenty of space.

Please continue to report any wildlife sightings or encounters to the COS 24/7 RAPP line at 1.877.952.7277 or https://forms.gov.bc.ca/environment/rapp/
