Squamish RCMP launches online crime reporting

staff report
September 16, 2020 4:31pm

Squamish RCMP has launched a new online crime reporting system for local residents.

Residents can report crime online if:

A resident has lost something that costs less than $5000

Someone has stolen something from you that costs less than $5000

Someone has vandalized your property or vehicle and it will cost less than $5000 to repair it

The crime happened within the jurisdiction of the Squamish RCMP

You want to report a Driving Complaint that is not in progress

However, online crime reporting can’t be used if :

There is a witness or suspect (this restriction does not apply to Driving Complaints)

There are lost or stolen items involving personal identity or firearms

There are lost or stolen licence plates or decals

Squamish RCMP will need name, address, phone number, and email. A typical report will take 15 minutes to complete.

The new system will improve crime stats for RCMP and increase efficiency, says Sgt. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.

The Bowen Island RCMP also has a new online reporting tool to gives citizens a faster way to report less serious crimes.

And if it is over $5000 … ? shoot the bastard or do we have another Police force to call …. or this just down loading to the Insurance Company if one has insurance for the act…..? kind of confusing for an old fart like me
