A 34-year-old man from Alberta was arrested by Whistler RCMP after he took police on a chase while driving a stolen truck.
On October 21, at approximately 8:20, Whistler RCMP noted a vehicle in the area in Highway 99 and Village Gate driving in an erratic manor.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene.
Police began to receive reports of the vehicle driving in an erratic manner south bound towards Cheakamus.
Police were able to locate the vehicle on Cheakamus Lake Forest Service Road, where the driver once again fled from police.
Whistler RCMP then deflated the vehicles tires with the use of spike belts as the vehicle came out of the FSR.
That didn’t stop the driver, who kept driving in an extremely dangerous manner from Cheakamus into Alpha Lake park and then onto the railway tracks where the vehicle became stuck.
The vehicle, a white, 2021 Ford F350 pickup was confirmed stolen out of Alberta.
Police are aware that several people may have witnessed and potentially taken video of the incident and are appealing to the public to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
