Water facilities closed at Alice Lake and Porteau Cove parks

staff report
October 27, 2020 11:39am

Water facilities have been closed due to cold weather at Alice Lake Park and at Porteau Cove Park in Squamish.

“Due to overnight freezing temperatures, above ground and external water sources such as the drinking fountains, water taps and the sani-station will be shut down as of Friday, Oct. 23 and will remain off until temperatures rise,” said BC Parks.

“Water is accessible in the washroom buildings, however access is limited, so we ask that campers plan ahead and bring a larger supply of potable water.”

Meanwhile, the no-parking rule that BC Parks implemented in August is still in effect on Alice Lake Road.

“In order to maintain park safety and public security, all vehicles parked illegally and on road edges will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense,” says BC Parks.

BC Parks is also warning people to expect winter snow conditions at higher elevations, above 1300m, all across Garibaldi Park.

At Porteau Cove Provincial Park, BC Hydro has scheduled power outage for Monday, November 9.

There will be a two-hour outage from 8 am to 10 am and then from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, November 9.
