This past Saturday, Squamish RCMP were called to a downtown business after a customer refused to wear a mask
Police received the complaint from a business in the 38000 block of Cleveland Avenue about the customer who was also yelling at people.
Police spoke with the individual, who told the police they were not familiar with the new rules regarding masks.
Squamish RCMP said it educated the individual, and let the person go with a warning.
Masks are now required in most indoor public places and a non-compliance could lead to a $230 fine under the COVID-19 Related Measures Act, Squamish RCMP reminds.
Masks are now required to be worn by all British Columbians, 12 years and older, in many indoor public settings, including in coffee shops, and retail and grocery stores, city halls, libraries, community and recreation centres, restaurants, pubs and bars, etc.
The Government of BC is also expected to announce more rules regarding masks in common areas of apartment buildings, condos and workplaces.
