staff report
November 26, 2020 8:04am

A structural fire has destroyed a home on the Squamish Nations reserve in Brackendale.

No one was injured in the fire.

Squamish Fire Rescue attended to a structural fire on the Wiwk’em Reserve, located at the end of Axen Road in Brackendale.

The call came in at 3:45 am, said Christina Moore, communications manager at the District of Squamish.

One home has been lost, and an additional home has received damage, she said.

Emergency Support Services volunteers are working with District of Squamish and Squamish Nation to support the people impacted by the fire.

There is no word on cause of the fire at this time, Moore said.

    That picture is horrible!!!!
It was actually a beautiful log home that caught fire and burned down “not” the stereotypical house that you portray in the photo!
Yes I understand this story is not about what the house looked like… but let’s not continue to promote your vision of what a reserve looks like!
