Two killed in rollover crash near Pemberton

Staff report
December 6, 2020 10:02am

Two people were killed in a rollover crash in Mount Currie near Pemberton on December 5.

The single-vehicle crash happened on XitOlacw Road in Mt. Currie around 2 pm yesterday.

Two vehicle occupants didn’t survive the crash, while the other two occupants, a man and a woman, are in hospital with unknown injuries.

All the occupants were local to the Mt. Currie area Lil’wat community.

“The Lil’wat First Nations is a close-knit community. This tragic incident has taken a toll on the heart and spirit of all Lil’wat people and other members of the Stl’atl’im community”, said Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, although the police are not ruling out speed and alcohol as a factor.

Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police is expected to provide more information today.
