New traffic signal planned at Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road

District of Squamish is planning to install a traffic signal at Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road.

The proposal is part of the draft budget for 2021, though a decision has yet to be made by council.

According to the Multi-Modal Transportation Plan, this intersection is a major connection to north Garibaldi Estates and is experiencing significant growth.

The signal, the district hopes, would improve traffic flow and safety of vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists at this busy intersection.

The district is also planning to complete traffic-calming improvements in different parts of town.

The initial work is expected to begin at the Clarke Drive and Highway 99 intersection to improve pedestrian safety.

Replacement of existing banners (110 poles), new washrooms at the Adventure Centre, and replacement of eroded and cracked sections of corridor trail are some other projects included in the draft budget.
