SORCA receives $65,642 to upgrade bike skills park

Staff report
February 24, 2021 5:15pm

Squamish Off-Road Cycling Association (SORCA) is receiving provincial funding to upgrade local bike skills park.

The $65,642 will be given to upgrade the Brennan Park Mountain Bike Skills Park built next to the local community centre.

SORCA is among 63 local governments, First Nations and non-profit organisations that will receive $30 million for infrastructure projects across the province.

Those organisations that have received this funding will also be allowed to hire the company of their choice with the aim of stimulating local economies by creating new construction jobs and restoring jobs in areas impacted by COVID-19.

The projects would create jobs and support recovery for people and communities affected by COVID-19, the government said.

On February 10, four local non-profits received $168,500 in community gaming grants, with SORCA receiving $27,000.
