Street sweeping in downtown this week; light sleepers cautioned

Staff report
March 22, 2021 12:09pm

District of Squamish public work crews will be giving downtown a mini spring-cleaning beginning Monday, March 22.

Cleveland Avenue Traffic Island Maintenance will begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 22, and lane closures will be in effect.

Meanwhile on Thursday, March 24, at 6 am, district crews will start sidewalk maintenance and street sweeping in Downtown Squamish.

Street sweeping begins next day at 4 am on Friday, March 25. The district asks residents to plan accordingly if they are light sleepers.

A new watermain is also being installed along Mamquam Road from Highlands Way South to the end of Paco Road.

This project will improve fire flows to the industrial area at the end of the Paco Road areas as part of a plan to bring flows up to industrial levels.

Expect single-lane alternating traffic and parking restrictions at various times.

This work will take place April through May.

The district is also undertaking annual ground maintenance work at Mount Garibaldi Cemetery.

Please remove artificial plants and flowers and any ornamentation such as statues or angels and loose objects such as rocks, glass, or metal items from the grave markers before March 31.

Items not removed before March 31 will be moved by district staff and placed at the main gates for two weeks.
