WLNG offers free lunch to tradespeople and construction workers

staff report
April 1, 2021 4:42pm

As April 2021 is the fourth annual Construction Month in BC, Woodfibre LNG is buying lunch for local construction and tradespeople in Squamish.

A social media contest called #lunchboxchallenge goes live today and invites local tradespeople to apply to win lunch for themselves and their teams.

Tradespeople and construction workers would need to say why they would appreciate free lunch and sign up to receive Woodfibre LNG’s newsletter.

Full details can be found here: www.woodfibrelng.ca/lunchbox

The company said it is grateful to have received a grant from Construction Month to buy its construction team lunch.

Instead of using the grant themselves, Woodfibre LNG will pay it forward and buy lunch from local eatery Norman Rudy’s for 100 construction and tradespeople in Squamish.

“We are delighted to do our bit to recognize the local hardworking construction and tradespeople who do so much for the local community. Buying them lunch is just a small, yet important way to recognize them,” said Ron Bailey, acting president of Woodfibre LNG.

“It’s also an opportunity for us to support a local restaurant at a time when Squamish’s hospitality industry continues to suffer from the impacts of COVID-19 related restrictions.”

Since 2013, Woodfibre LNG says it has contributed over $1 million to groups and events in town.
