The Squamish Lions Club is thanking the community for another successful paper-shredding event.
The Squamish Lions Club sponsored their second annual shredding event on April 17 and raised $2,000 for Easter Seals Camp Squamish.
The event was timely as the funds that are being raised will be used for summer camps. People began to arrive about 9:30 am with their boxes of personal documents that needed to be destroyed.
Many “box owners” briefly remained on site to watch the actual shredding procedure of their documents which satisfied any concerns that may have lingered regarding the efficacious destruction.
“Proceeds raised from the shredding fundraiser will be directed toward preparing the camp for the summer campers that will serve families throughout the Lower Mainland and the Squamish to Pemberton corridor,” the club said.
“It’s a special effort to enable campers to enjoy a very special camping experience.”
The Squamish Easter Seals Camp is administered by the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.
Parents and children with diverse abilities will be able to stay in their own room and eat at their own table. Families may use the climbing walls, access the tree fort, do arts and crafts, play games on the field, hang out with characters, and sing along at campfires.
This is the second paper-shredding event that the Lions Club has organized for the community after a similar event last October.
