The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire 23 kilometres north of Lillooet.
The McKay Creek wildfire is classified as “Out of Control” and is estimated to be 3,700 hectares. It is situated along West Pavilion Road, 23 kilometre north of Lillooet.
As many as 45 personnel have been deployed by BC Wildfire Service and are being supported by air tankers and 4 helicopters.
Because of the potential danger to life and health, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has issued an evacuation alert.
The alert is for these areas:
West Pavilion Road from the 14 km mark to the 41 km mark
All other properties as outlined on the attached map
“An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” SLRD says.
