No wildfire found at Stawamus Chief park

Staff report
June 30, 2021 2:51pm

The BC Wildfire Service investigated a possible wildfire at the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, but are clarifying that no fire has been found.

Dorthe Jakobsen, the fire information for Coastal Fire Centre, said the crews have not found any fire at the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park.

The fire is listed on the wildfire service information board, which is done every time a fire is reported.

“The yellow dot will be removed from the map soon,” she said.

Last week, BC Wildfire Service map also showed a wildfire at Brohm Lake, but no wildfire was found after investigation.

Wildfire crews are, however, battling a wildlife north of Lillooet.

The McKay Creek wildfire is classified as “Out of Control” and is estimated to be 3,700 hectares.

It is situated along West Pavilion Road, 23 kilometre north of Lillooet.
